Awesome Color is a power trio updated for the 2060s, a group of noise provocateurs and impressionists, ace players with punk rock flair, inspired citizens of a small modernist nation of musical, visual, and literary outrage on the outskirts of Brooklyn, or a rainbow amalgam of all of the above at once.

Following a non-stop touring schedule after their debut release (including stints with Dinosaur Jr. and Sonic Youth in the US, UK, and Europe), the band took their honed brand of turbo chemistry into the studio and created the highly anticipated Electric Aborigines.

"Some of the group's songs evoke Sabbath as played by Germans in the '70s, with Stanton's terse riffs cruising atop crisp, loping grooves provided by bassist Michael Troutman and drummer Allison Busch. Other tunes come across like lean, airy impressions of classic Southern rock (the three met in Ann Arbor, Michigan--the northernmost Southern state--before setting up together in Bushwick). But the most indelible image from an Awesome Color show is the rapt joy in Stanton's face when he backs away from the microphone for a solo." --Time Out NY

***Awesome Color's debut full-length is a mother of a scorched groover. Just check out the track "Free Man," it says it all, man. Primal o-mind rhythm with boss-bliss lyrix and a lead guitar lick-lashing that'll have you cryin' "hell yes!" every time.

Awesome Color came out of Ann Arbor, Michigan where singer and guitarist Derek Stanton grew up across the street from Scott "Rock Action" Asheton of The Stooges. Needless to say he picked up a few things about rock'n'roll around the neighborhood, things he'll never forget. When the time was right, Stanton, drummer Allison Busch and bassist Michael Troutman jumped in a bombed-out car and headed for Brooklyn, New York. And began to blow minds.

Live, they transfix with heavy, cosmic guitars and a rhythm section like a freight train. When they play, they're often joined by brothers and sisters grabbing instruments and getting loud: barefoot guitar solos, sax in the aisles and wolf dancing all around.
