***French pop heritage is littered with smooth and creamy icons: Gainsbourg, Karen Anne, Adamo, and Francois Hardy. Gable, however, is a completely different kettle de poisson. Wearing their influences on their sleeves-- Moldy Peaches, Meat Puppets, early Sonic Youth-- they stick a big, lovely lump of absolutely bonkers, stinky musical cheese in the face of their suave ancestry. Seven Guitars With a Cloud of Milk is Gable's second album, containing 18 tracks clocking in at just under 40 minutes. The songs cover such diverse topics as group suicide, the state of urban music, self-realization, cats, and drunk foxes, in the best tradition of DIY bands like The Vaselines, Violent Femmes, and Beat Happening. In the coming months, the band will be playing shows throughout France as well as elsewhere in Europe, and a UK tour is in the works following the release of Seven Guitars With a Cloud of Milk. 30-second MP3 excerpts: Noone Knows Why?
