***This One's For You, the fourth full-length release from Portsmouth, UK's Christopher Reeves (aka The Gasman), is perhaps his most rewarding work to date. On this follow-up to 2005's Multiplex (released by Canada's Sublight label), Reeves embellishes other-worldly electronica with clusters of organ-like chords and slabs of murky reverb. In the cross-fire of wavering grooves and humming tape loops one can imagine giant insects being poked and prodded by alien machines designed to extract their unusual sounds. Reeves works meticulously to create this eerie ambience, patching samples together on tinkered PCs and feeding reel-to-reel tapes through his laptop. This One's For You is genuinely refreshing audio for the ears.
