***Sharron Kraus is a singer/musician/songwriter with a gift for beautiful and heartbreaking songs from a deep-seated storytelling mythology. Her music, rooted in the folk traditions of England and Appalachia, is characterized by soil-rich vocals, haunting banjo, fine acoustic guitar, and visionary word-craft. Kraus's songs are populated by a carnival array of fatally charismatic characters, telling tales of enslavement, perversion, incest, obsession, love and death, and her live performances are stark, compelling, and delicate. She is like the roving storyteller, bringing tales of terror, sadness and joy to a stranger's hearth on a dark and stormy night. The Fox's Wedding, Kraus's stunning new album, offers eleven original songs and a cover of "Trice Toss These Oaken Ashes" written by Thomas Campion. Kraus has been featured in The Wire, Dirty Linen, New Folk Sounds, Arthur Magazine, Ptolemaic Terrascope and Broken Face. She has been interviewed on BBC Radio 3 and recorded sessions for BBC Radio Scotland, Freakzone on Radio 6, and independent radio stations across the US. Her fanbase includes veteran folkies Shirley Collins and Archie Fisher as well as indie figureheads Michael Gira, David Tibet, and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore. 30-second MP3 excerpts: Brigid Green Man In The Middle Of Summer July Skies Harvest Moon Would I The Prophet Thrice Toss These Oaken Ashes Robin Is Dead Ruthless And Alone Made My Home Magpie Child If you have a recent version of iTunes software on your computer, clicking on the link immediately below should open the iTunes application and take you to that album's iTunes page-- where you can listen to samples and buy this album, or individual tracks: Go to iTunes to browse downloads for Sharron Krause "Fox's Wedding" This title is also available for download at AmazonMP3 For a complete listing of Midheaven exclusive albums available for download from the iTunes Music Service and emusic, please visit the Midheaven Mailorder/Revolver USA Downloadables page. |
