The fifth album from NARROWS, a Bellingham, Washington trio who issue thick, powerful sounds at about the speed of the Sperry Glacier heading toward the lakes it feeds. The band is steeped in a wild combination of pain, loss, hope, family and friendship and the music offers listeners a glimpse into life in the Pacific Northwest rarely seen since the days of the Deep Six and Estrus Half Rack compilations. SEAN, JUICE and MATT all share some genetic makeup, and the familial closeness of two brothers and a cousin playing music together seeps through this record at every turn. Among the reasons for the formation of the band in 2000 was the therapy that playing slow, heavy music provided in the wake of a tragic Interstate 5 accident, and over time the music has taken different turns ranging into more hopeful and socially conscious territory. Benjamin is the crispest, most representative recording the band has undertaken to date. For fans of Sleep, Melvins, Low, Unwound, etc.
