Brighton based Guy Appleton is back as Bruce Stallion on Tigerbeat6 with "Donuts", introducing a more evolved version of his hectic yet funky take on bass music. After some recognition for his previous releases from the likes of Warlock, NoYeahNo, Z-shed, Braindrop.com, Igethype!, Generation Bass and many others, Bruce has evolved his sound away from the hardcore rave wobbling of the past to take in more influences from House, Funky, Grime and IDM, successfully retaining the itchy humour of previous work and developing a more distinctive and individual sound.   "Donut" demonstrates a funky / bmore influence, coupled to a sauntering arpeggio. "Heat" takes the "92 step" bounce of the last ep and injects it with more funk and squirting synths. The last three tracks, "Pulmonary", "Optics" and "Lizard" represent a further shift towards a style informed by house / funky / idm and are aimed just as much at the head as at the feet.
