The Numero Group strikes again with another quality archival release, this time from rockabilly/gospel performer, preacher’s wife, and fiery performer FERN JONES. Originally released in 1959 on the Dot label, Singing A Happy Song features sixteen tracks—twelve from the original release, along with four bonus cuts—of religious fervor, delivered with the same energy young Southerners were putting into their rock’n’roll. Includes Jones’ original song “I Was There When It Happened,” which was covered by Johnny Cash—Jimmie Davis, the Blackwood Brothers, and Jimmy Swaggart also covered her songs. Beautifully packaged with a booklet with extensive notes and photos, and housed in a jewel case with an outer card sleeve.
