Batfinks was born in 2008 minus 26 years in Manchester. In the early years of school, he was introduced by a small sparrow to a Jim Noir. They straight away found that if they combined their knowledge of nothing, they could soon create something, and for the next 18 or so years created nonsense noise, gigged, broke their instruments, and threw sausage rolls at each other. Batfinks got into the free party scene; through the Moss Lane/Strangeways party people he met the lovely Arie Bolt, whose strange outlook on life and chikamalee vocals seemed to fit in with his. He then released a couple of EPs through Jonathon Fisher’s Hippocamp.net and did a remix for the Sirconical’s Gioco 12-inch, and it all seemed to grab the attention of the listening folk. Finally some discs made their way to the Lo Recordings office and the new Lo offshoot label, Loaf. And what strange and marvelous music it is—twisted pop beyond your wildest dreams and perhaps beyond your endurance, so malignantly and magically warped it is. ELO, Aphex Twin, The Beach Boys, Kate Bush and Frank Zappa, all fried up and served with a double helping of rave noodles. “It’s music, Jim, but not as we know it.” Staggering, startling and strangely beautiful. Let a little Batfinks into your life.
