Personal Journals, the debut album from Sage Francis, was originally released on Anticon Records in 2002. Since then, Sage has been on countless national and international tours, released his 1st album for Epitaph Records, "A Healthy Distrust", and started his own record label, Strange Famous Records. One of the best selling indie-hop records to date, Personal Journals defined a fresh new era for the underground music world. In 2007, Personal Journals fell back into the full ownership of Sage Francis, hence, the re-release of this ground breaking album on his independent label. The re-release of Personal Journals coincides with the release of Sage's new album (Human the Death Dance) on Epitaph Records. Sage Francis is headlining the "Death Dance Tour" from May 23 til July 14, supported by Buck 65, Alias and Buddy Wakefield. Sage will also be performing on the same stage as Public Enemy and Rage Against The Machine at three "Rock the Bells" shows scheduled for late summer. "'Personal Journals' is a success because it turns the self- examination into poetry and then, harder still, turns the poems into great rap. And as dark as he gets, Francis makes sure we have a good time." - Chris Dahlen, Pitchfork Media "Anger, menace, eccentricity and humour are some of the emotions this outsider flicks between, but he's always highly convincing, articulate, and a lot more honest than the major label ego-rappers." - The Independent (UK) * Previous release on Anticon sold over 50,000 * Reviewed in Rolling Stone, Spin, Pitchfork, The Wire * 24 page booklet with lyrics and extensive liner notes * 41 city US tour this summer, followed by the 3 "Rock the Bells" dates * Collaborating with Mark Isham for major motion picture "Pride and Glory" * New album out May 8th 2007 on Epitaph with full promotional
