Ever since the release of Schlammpeitziger's first cassette on the renowned and legendary Cologne-based label Entenpfuhl in 1993, Jo Zimmermann has granted an international audience insights into his private cosmos. The musician, graphic artist, and tireless inventor of increasingly strange song titles with a ribald as well as subtle humor has been coining a highly distinctive style for the last fifteen years. His new album exhibits significant artistic development while remaining true to his own personal vision. On Schwingstelle Fuer Rauschabzug, Schlammpeitziger discovers deep frequencies and pulsating beats. All of a sudden, his familiar combination of eloquent melodies and lively rhythms acquires a completely new pull. With this album, Zimmermann pulses his listeners into hypnosis. This new quality transforms Schlammpeitziger's music in a remarkable way: it remains friendly and weird, but gains in seriousness and depth. The hidden qualities of this kind of club-suitable pop music (or radio-friendly club music?) readily disclose themselves on a second or third listen. This "musical double entendre" was already hinted at on the last album Everything Without All Inclusive. Now it has become Schlammpeitziger's new trademark. Still, the listener is caught up in a net of intricately woven melodic lines. Schwingstelle Fuer Rauschabzug was mixed by Andi Toma (Mouse On Mars/Von Suedenfed) at St. Martin Tonstudio, Duesseldorf. Pingipung Records' Springintgut, who recently released an album on City Centre Offices, contributes a remix of "Bassbestie's Blaesse" (available as a bonus track on the CD only). Furthermore, the CD contains a beautiful video for the track "Rastplatz Rastlos" by artist Ulrike Goeken (also responsible for Schlammpeitziger's live visuals and other music videos).
