The long awaited re-release of soundtrack-without-a-film, “psycho-ambient” instrumental opus by Michael Gira (Angels of Light, Swans, Young God Records). Sonic chaos and wordless lullabies were compiled, edited, mangled, fedback, mutated and morphed from high quality recordings of a dizzying array of musicians using acoustic and electric instruments - performed in the studio - as well as loops and fragments generated from these sessions, found cassette recordings, sine waves and drones, live Swans recordings, electronic noise and the occasional insect, weeping woman, or a touching recording of a baby in the process of being circumcised. Gira’s archive experiments with analog synth, tape loops and “slabs of sound,” some from as far back as 1982, mingle and interact with contemporary studio performances. Originally composed and recorded in 1998, this prescient collage epic summed up Gira’s fifteen- year obsession via Swans with music as raw, mutable sound - alternately dreamy and abrasive, drifting from sweet acoustic melodies to musique concrète in one breath. Sound-source contributions from Pan Sonic, Deathprod, Origami Republika, Swans and many more. The Body Haters disc contains a new track recorded specifically for this re-release. Ultra-lush, and expanded, new artwork by Nicole Boitos. • Long-awaited double-CD re-release — with new extra track — from M. Gira (Swans, Angels of Light) • Release coincides with Angels of Light’s US tour and new album, and fresh interest in Gira and Young God Records • Publicity by Howlin’ Wuelf Media • Ads in Magnet, The Wire and more • Expanded, deluxe artwork
