If ever there was a dream-team collective involved in just one single, this is it. Together, Britpop legend Jarvis Cocker and two of today's most exciting and innovative French producers—Pentile and Pilooski, collectively known as Discodeine—have created "Synchronize," the most buzzed about dance track of 2010. Discodeine is one of the finest musical duos to grace our consciousness in recent years: Pilooski is a fixture in the Paris music scene famous for his “dirty edits” series (a collaboration with Dirty Sound System) and his recent production work on The Aikiu’s debut album; Pentile is an equally respected musician / producer in his own right and best known for his involvement with Octet and France Copeland. With a mutual love for sci-fi movies, avant-garde electro and South Western French cuisine, the pair soon discovered they had an undeniable chemistry in the studio and quickly started churning out killer remixes for the likes of Metronomy, Whomadewho, Bot'ox, Photonz and Yelle. Earlier this year, Discodeine recorded their debut album of original material, written from scratch and featuring an honorable handful of yet-to-be-announced guest vocalists. "Synchronize" is the first single from their highly anticipated forthcoming full-length, due early 2011. Available on vinyl and digital formats, it comes to North American audiences courtesy of NYC's own disco-loving trailblazers DFA Records. Watch out for the exclusive new video starring Cocker to be unveiled next month. Packaged in generic DJ sleeves with some sleeve damage.
