ÜBERHUND are one of the Bay Area's most criminally ignored secrets. The band features the musical talents of guitarist/vocalist MATT DICKEY, guitarists GWEN GREGG, bass player PAUL MATHUS, and drummer/engineer JAY PELLICCI, who in addition to recording the last two Deerhoof albums, also plays for CRIME IN CHOIR, DILUTE, and 31 KNOTS. The band plays a bastardized form of rock that pretty much ingratiates itself to anyone with ears. Essentially, the album is a bunch of heavy pop songs that incorporate math-rock, prog, goth and early ‘80s Liverpool into something unquestionably unique. Add to this their lyrical naivete with a penchant for swear words and you'll realize that this band is sweet, sweet perfection. They are the original 21st century Romo-Goths. Reference points: Polvo, Echo and The Bunnymen, King Crimson, Quickspace, and Mclusky.
