Surahn is the most recent signing to DFA Records. Following last year’s self-titled EP, this new release takes the track “Watching the World” and places it in the ever-capable hands of Norwegian disco legend Prins Thomas. Mr. Thomas flips the song into one of the best, most delightful arpeggiated disco-pop 12-inch singles DFA has had the privilege of releasing. Surahn was a founding member of The Swiss, a full-time touring member of Empire of the Sun and co-wrote with R&B superstar Usher on his latest album Looking 4 Myself. His full-length debut LP will be out on DFA in 2013.  “Surahn Sidhu lives in a perfect pop universe. He’s released underground disco hits under the name Sidwho?, performed as a member of retro-futurist indie-pop outfit Empire of the Sun, written mainstream hits for Usher, and now has a brilliant EP for DFA Records. “In keeping with this history of basically doing just about whatever he wants, Sidhu’s EP takes elements of all those pieces of himself, distills and filters it through a late-’70s AOR R&B vibe that at times sounds like Player and Stevie Wonder with hints of ABBA and Alan Parsons Project...sometimes all at once.” —KCRW
