Before Indian Jewelry, there was NTX+Electric, and this album documents that great band during its most creative and inspired early time--before they had a chance to travel across the world, perfecting their live show and gaining fans and enemies with their excessive strobe lights, tribal percussion, and overdriven amplifiers. We Are the Wild Beast is remarkable for its unrestrained sonic hedonism, timeless aesthetic, and complete disregard for modern trends or styles. Completely detached from any of its musical contemporaries, this album possesses a unique sense of surrealism, and feels closer in spirit to the films of Peter Greenaway and David Lynch then the usual psychedelic or rock and roll ethos.  The song "We Are the Wild Beast" appeared to Erika Thrasher in a dream one night in 2003. The other tracks have somewhat less divine provenance. Brandon Davis, Candice Vincent, and Tex Kerschen also appear on this record. It was written, recorded, and mastered in the kitchen and reading room of their former estate in Houston, Texas. The dog barking in the background on certain tracks is Rebel. Due to certain unfortunate excesses in the engineering process, the rats within the walls and the roosters that were crowing next door throughout the entire recording are inaudible to all but those listening on the most state-of-the-art stereo systems. Ornamenting the album is art culled from some of the finest zoological lexica known in Western history.
