After twenty-one years of fronting Guided By Voices, Robert Pollard dissolved the band in 2004. Mere days after the band’s final two shows in Chicago comes the announcement of his first post-GBV solo release. The opening instrumental immediately signifies that changes are afoot. Off-the-cuff recording techniques and bouncy lyrics harken back to mid-era GBV and conjure offerings from Dan Bejar or Scott Walker.
