Artist: BARTH, CHRIS Title: Loving Off The Land
Format: CD Catalog
Number:
MWR002
Price: $12.00 Label: Recordhead/Mr. Whiggs
Release
Date:
5/10/04
***Constructed by using single notes to suggest its melodies, Loving Off The Land is an album lush in arrangement and sprinkled with instrumentals. With reoccurring themes and linear structure, it is an album whose complex form is a direct result of its simplicity. Chris orchestrated this record around his time spent writing and recording material for his band The Impossible Shapes. Laughter Fills Our Hollow Dome, the new record from the Shapes, will be released on the same day as this solo record. Many folks are looking to 'Laughter Fills...' as being THE record to own in 2002. We are happy to announce that 'Loving' and 'Laughter' are a nice pair. "Loving Off The Land" is an enchanting story told through these eighteen tracks. Each song acting as a key chapter, great when read on their own-perfect when pieced together. It is an album about Love, because really what else is there? This is Chris Barth's first solo record.

Artist: IMPOSSIBLE SHAPES Title: Great Migration
Format: CD Catalog
Number:
MRR011
Price: $12.00 Label: Recordhead/Mr. Whiggs
Release
Date:
5/17/04
***Assembled out of basements and bedrooms in central Indiana, The Great Migration serves as the beginning of the Impossible Shapes career. Recorded and written in their teens, the Shapes accomplished something completely stunning with their debut - a work of art that could have been written 30 years ago or 30 days from now. A work that obviously has influences, which have been well documented over the past 5 years or so, but it also has this uniqueness that hasn't been approached since in the bands more recent efforts. Charming and unassuming tracks about changing the air and purple clouds and sounding off and whatever other spirits entered these kindred folks. Layered pop tracks that remind us what it was like. When things were better and less heavy in this world. An album of analog recordings where you can and should get lost. We invite you.
