***ELLIE POP’s eponymous 1968 album is definitely a pop/psychedelic classic-in-waiting, whose time has perhaps finally come. A great set of songs all oozing Beatles harmonics, catchy melodies, odd time signatures, and distorted guitars. Not exactly psychedelia, but what the hell. Liner notes feature a few words from the band’s guitarist, as well as some gig listings alongside some fellow Michigan heavyweights.
