Good Morning JudgeFat Possum
***Recorded in 1962, these recordings came at an important time in the life of FURRY LEWIS. Though he had "retired" from music in the 1930s, his music was rediscovered in the '60s, and Furry Lewis spent a good deal of the decade touring the US and Europe; even opening for the Rolling Stones at one point. Enter GEORGE MITCHELL who recorded Furry Lewis in his home (as the cover photo of Furry in his robe indicates) in 1962. As such, the sessions are loose and relaxed, featuring only Furry's voice and his guitar. This is the first time the complete recordings of this session have been made available on CD.
*Furry Lewis cut his first blues albums in the 1920s and was still performing well into the 1970s.
*These 1962 recordings of Furry Lewis have never been before released on CD, and have never been collected into one package before this.
*Good Morning Judge follows other George Mitchell Archives releases, including Mississippi Fred McDowell's Mama Says I'm Crazy, and R.L. Burnside's First Recordings, with more to come.
*Includes new liner notes from Fat Possum's Matthew Johnson
