***Saigon Supersound Vol. 2 presents more interesting tunes of a musical era that has long been obscured. As with Saigon Supersound Vol. 1 (2017) this new volume digs deeper to share the beautiful music of a short but significant period in Vietnam's history. Between 1954-1960, the theme of (quê hương), or hometown, was a main inspiration for many songwriters. Every recording made in this era is then an organic combination of human experiences, communications and uniqueness. In 1965, the first American troops landed in Vietnam, bringing with them the musical influences of the likes of Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, and Elvis Presley. The Vietnamese people quickly integrated it into the repertoire with the hope of further diversifying the music of Vietnam. Constantly changing and learning from different cultures, the modern music of Vietnam cuts a window into the soul of a Vietnamese person and the country's history as a whole. With that, the hope is that Saigon Supersound Vol. 2 would take you on a trip back to the unique atmosphere of Saigon through the different palettes of music that this beautiful place offers. Features: Carol Kim, Son Ca, Van Son, Elvis Phương, Thanh Tuyên, Thanh Thuy, Phuong Dung, Thanh Lan, Tuy Phuơng, Champagne, Hùng Cương & Mai Lệ Huyên, Connie Kim, Truơng Hai, Mai Lẹ Huyên, Lẹ Thu, and Kích Động Nhac AVT.
