***All Havana danced the Chachacha in the Fifties and today it is as popular in Cuba as abroad. La Engañadora (The Deceiver) was the first. Chachacha narrated Cuban customs and were developed by important Cuban composers and interpreted by the most outstanding of Cuba’s charanga-type orchestras and thus appear the original themes at the end of the century. Cha Cortés, by outstanding flutist and composer José Luis Cortés, director of NG La Banda, one of Cuba’s most renovator composers; Arrebatado Chachachá (Stark-mad Chachacha) by Joaquín Betancourt, violinist, composer, musical producer, Grammy award winner for his recording “La Rumba Soy Yo” (I Am The Rumba), and Paulo FG’s “Ven A Mi Chachachá” (Come To My Chachacha), included in his first solo CD. All of them keep the identifying components of the genre, and take to the new generations the seal of one of the genres that provoked the most furore on Cuban dancers of the time.
